FAQ - Before applying to the program
* What is the difference between a trainee program and a direct entry? Is one way better than the other way?
Both entry opportunities are regarded equally at Daimler. An entry through a trainee program is not better than a direct entry or the other way around. Each applicant has to decide individually for himself / herself which is the best way to start. A trainee program on the one hand gives you the opportunity to get to know the company and build a network throughout the company. On the other hand as a direct entry you start with you tasks from the first day.
* How many people will be recruited onto the program this year?
This year we will hire approximately a few hundred trainees worldwide.
* What functional disciplines are available?
o Engineering, Research & Development
o Manufacturing, & Related Functions
o Procurement & Supply
o Sales & Marketing
o Financial Services
o Finance & Controlling
o Information Technology
o Human Resources
* What will I be earning as a member of CAReer?
That will depend on different factors for example on the country/region in which you join the program. We would be happy to discuss details with you in person.
* Was CAReer conceived purely as a junior management development program?
The program focuses on giving participants further specialist training. Daimler wants them to carry their know-how in their particular specialism into the company. After further specialist training some participants may take on management responsibility within Daimler.
* What degree subjects are you looking for?
Generally speaking, we are interested in anyone with a degree in a technical or business-related subject. In some functional disciplines, for example Research & Development, we may also be looking for science subjects, for instance physics. Please refer to our website for specific job postings which contain more precise details.
* Do I need to have a Master, or is a Bachelor enough to be accepted onto the program?
The program is geared toward graduates with either a Bachelor or a Master. The department in which a particular trainee will join after completing the program will specify the exact requirements for applicants. You will find these on our website in the respective job postings.
* Can I apply for CAReer if I already have some professional experience?
We would be happy to receive your application if you already have some professional experience.
* Can I apply for the program even if I do not yet have any experience of living / working abroad?
Experience of living and working abroad is an advantage, but not absolutely essential. Requirements are very much dependent on the job we need to fill and the selection criteria specified by the department in question. At any rate, however, you should enjoy working in an international environment.
* What language skills do I need in order to join the program?
To join CAReer you need sound English language skills, as well as a very good knowledge of the language spoken at the site where you would like to begin training. For entry in Germany, German is thus an important prerequisite. Should you speak other languages - so much the better!
* How many months of practical experience do I need when I apply?
There is no "minimum requirement" which applicants must fulfil. Nevertheless, it is very important for us that applicants have already gained lots of practical experience during their degree studies. You should therefore have already carried out an internship in an area that is relevant to your functional discipline.
* Is there an upper age limit?
No. All graduates, even those with initial professional experience, can apply.
* To whom should I send my application? Can I apply online?
The application process varies regionally. Please visit our website to find out the details for your preferred country. (http://career.Daimler.com).
In Germany for example the application process is online.
* What documents do I need to include in my application?
See also the question before.
For Germany:
Once you have completed our online application we already have most of the information we need. Please also attach your CV and certificates (list of grades). If you have a Bachelor or Master, please also attach your diploma supplement.
* What does the application process involve?
The Daimler CAReer program is based on give and take. When selecting participants we therefore set great store by finding out about their strengths and learning areas, and giving them the chance to experience Daimler and its culture.
That is why we have chosen a multi-step selection process:
1. Preselection based on application
2. Online test
3. Telephone interview
4. Assessment center
* Are there fixed start dates for which I need to specifically apply? Are there any deadlines? How early should I apply for the program?
CAReer begins every month. We welcome applications at any time. There are no deadlines for applications, although we suggest you apply approximately three to four months before you would like to start.
* Do I have to choose one specific functional discipline or can I apply for several at once?
You should apply directly to a specific job posting placed by the respective department. The decision on which functional discipline to choose is very much dependent on your previous practical experience. If your education was very broad-based, you can indeed apply to different job postings in different functional disciplines.
* Is it possible to apply again, if I have received a refusal after an unsuccessful online test?
In this case you can apply again for the program after 3 years. The online test is repeatable after the successful preselection.
* Is it possible to apply again, if I have received a refusal after an attended assessment center?
Unfortunately you can't apply again to CAReer, but you can apply for a direct entry. |
