Qualifications

4-6 years of experience working in television production as a director or an assistant director
 Bachelors Degree in Communication, Broadcasting, Production, or Television Arts
 Fluent (spoken and written) Arabic and English is required
 Knowledge of Middle East political and cultural affairs
 Must be able to work under pressure, and provide quick turnaround against high-pressure deadlines
 Ability to diagnose and remedy complex production problems quickly
 Experience in a digital TV news broadcasting facility is highly desirable including the ability to use television production equipment
 Must have confident demeanor and excellent rapport when interacting with all levels of staff
 Knowledge of edit and graphic software

Job Description

Working under a producer’s supervision, the director’s primary function is to oversee the program and content implementation, and ensuring production team adheres to the vision of the producer. With the approval of the funding studio, s/he will have further authority over the final result than a typical director. S/he will also at times act as the Programs Producer.

Responsible for project design, from conceptualization to completion stage
 Managed events and keeping the assignment on budget and on schedule
 Serves as liaison between the producer and technical crew
 Supervise pre-production activities
 Prepare studios to achieve producer’s program vision, including but not limited to props, scenery, costumes, lighting and other necessary items
 Assist in location selections, creating shooting plan, and producing mental layout shot by shot
 Direct live and taped broadcasts, instructing the crew from the control room concerning camera angles, lighting adjustments, transitions to and from commercials and from different locations
 Overseeing the technical crew in post-production elements, including editing, mixing, re-taping and music
 Editing public service announcements, promotional segments, and newsbreaks
 Supervising auditions and rehearsals
 Conduct meetings with production crew, producers and station management to ensure everyone is abreast of the programming needs and requirements
 Making personnel decisions based on need and performance
