Qualifications

- North American citizens only please

- Must have a Bachelor’s Degree or Masters degree in Social Work from an accredited university.

- Must have at least 1 -2 years of relevant post-grad working experience

- Must be able to provide proof of certification and/or registration as a Social Worker in their province or state

- Good communication skills


Job Description

1. Casework Accountabilities

1.1 To be responsible for the day-to-day management of specific allocated cases, under the overall guidance of a Team Manager or Deputy Team Manager.

This will include:

1.1.2 Ensuring that the child’s best interests are at all times promoted and that, in particular, procedures regarding children in need of protection and looked after children are diligently followed.

1.1.3 Communicating with children in an age appropriate manner in order to ascertain their wishes and needs.

1.1.4 Completion of all appropriate assessment and review documentation within the appropriate timescale, using the Framework I case management system.
1.1.5 Ensuring that visits to children are carried out and recorded as required.

1.1.6 Maintaining pro-active communication with all members of the child’s network, both family and professional.

1.1.7 Developing, implementing and monitoring plans to meet identified needs, within the overall framework of resources available within social care, educational, voluntary and informal sectors.

1.1.8 Bringing any serious matter affecting the service to the attention of the Team Manager. This includes any actual or suspected child protection issue; any complaint made regarding Children’s Social Care; any missing child and issues of comparable seriousness.

1.1.9 Ensuring that all relevant changes in whereabouts, family composition, legal status etc. are recorded as soon as possible on Framework

1.1.10 Ensuring that all court proceedings progress smoothly and with minimum delay; this includes strictly adhering to time scales and other directions of the court.

1.1.11 Supporting and advising other members of the team with their work. This may include undertaking joint visits, assisting in drafting reports accompanying colleagues at meetings etc.
