Description

The Permaculture Institute of El Salvador (IPES) is now accepting short-term and long-term volunteer internships in the fields of sustainable agriculture, food security, community development and permaculture. IPES offers invaluable hands-on experience in permaculture and community development. Internships are offered year-round for any length of time with a minimum of 1 month stay. Some volunteers have even stayed for years. Interns live and work on our Permaculture Demonstration Site located 20 minutes outside the old colonial town of Suchitoto, Cuscatlan, El Salvador. Interns will learn about permaculture philosophy, soil conservation, diversified corn fields, medicinal gardens, native seed collection, water catchments and filtration, composting latrines, organic composting, natural pest management, leadership skill building, community development practices, Farmer-to-Farmer methodology, and Salvadoran history and culture. Interns have the opportunity to focus their internship on a specific aspect of our work if they are interested. We do charge a fee for interns to cover accommodation and permaculture instruction. The cost is $400 for one month and $360 for every subsequent month. We are happy to provide support before you arrive, making sure you have all the information you need to make your visit to IPES as fulfilling as possible! Please contact our Volunteer Coordinator Maïa at volunteer@permacultura.com.sv for more information or for an application form.
