BG Group recruits graduates into six different business areas. These areas are broadly divided into Technical (Engineering and Operations, Geoscience, Petroleum Engineering, Well Engineering) and Commercial (Business Analysis, Commercial).
We are looking for graduates with a strong academic record and commitment to a career in our industry. Your degree subject could range from engineering to business-related studies. A higher degree is often required, especially in the Technical area. Please refer to the specific business areas for further information.
The worldwide opportunities that await you mean you need to be open to working with different cultures, sometimes over prolonged periods in challenging conditions in remote areas. It is a given that you are willing to work internationally to complete assignments.
It is therefore essential that you have an intrepid spirit, real intellectual ability, resilience, professional pragmatism and high levels of effectiveness, whether working as part of a team or leading one. |
| Description: |
BG Group's graduate development programme is designed to give you early responsibility and offer you international opportunities sooner rather than later.
So expect to hit the ground running, working on real projects with real involvement right from the start. And be prepared to travel at any moment, with our guarantee of at least one international assignment during your two year programme.
This promise of early responsibility with guaranteed travel makes BG Group a unique proposition. When it comes to gas discovery and delivery, we don’t stand still. And when it comes to developing your career, nor will you. How soon do you want to get out there?
Our expanding and diverse global operations are organised into three geographical regions and managed on a regional basis. Within these, we have interests in 27 countries and are recruiting graduates for our International Graduate Development Programme into many of these locations.
An international induction, for all new graduates recruited from around the world, opens your eyes to operations across BG Group’s gas supply chain. At the same time, you meet leaders from the business and other experienced managers.
Our two year graduate development programme is individually tailored to your needs. Its exact nature depends on the technical or commercial knowledge you acquired during your first or higher degree and previous work experience. It depends also on the specific requirements of the roles we assign you to and the paths you wish your future to take.
Throughout your two years you have the support of a personal mentor and a parent manager. The emphasis is on your learning mainly from a practical mix of hands-on and formal training, but with expert guidance throughout. After you have completed the programme, you will continue to be supported. In BG Group we ensure that everyone has access to guidance and leadership within their functions to help them develop their capabilities and progress their careers; we call this parenting.
We see it as very important to give you as many broad and varied experiences as we can, so that you swiftly become a well-rounded member of our team. This means that international travel is virtually guaranteed.
BG Group gives access to a broad spread of training courses, advocates attendance at external courses and, where appropriate, actively encourages pursuit of chartered or member status of relevant professional organisations.
The BG Group graduate development programme won’t spoon-feed you or wrap you in cotton wool, nor will it expose you to situations that over-stretch you or mismatch your developmental needs. It is very much a real world experience. |
| More information: |
BG Group is a FTSE 10 company. A world leader in natural gas, we employ around 5 000 people working in 27 countries across five continents.
This means we are small enough to offer you a fast moving culture with access to top level management and world leading experts. We are big enough to give you experiences in locations as far apart as Brazil and Egypt. And we have the expertise to take you from fresh graduate to experienced industry professional in a relatively short space of time, compared to other larger corporations. |
